Since winning the Guitar Foundation of America’s annual competition in 1999, Lorenzo Micheli has been a prolific player in the international classical guitar scene. Over his career, Micheli has played over 1,000 concerts throughout the world. As a soloist and with orchestras, he has performed in venues such as Carnegie Hall, Sejong Hall, and the Royal Concertgebouw. Among his collaborations with an impressive range of artists from the Assad Brothers to David Knopfler of Dire Straits, Micheli’s work with Matteo Mela as SoloDuo is most notable, with The Washington Post deeming them “extraordinarily sensitive—nothing less than rapturous.” Micheli’s discography spans more than twenty recordings on labels including Naxos, Stradivarius, and Decca-Universal. Micheli teaches at the University School of Music in Switzerland and is an artist-in-residence at both the University of Colorado Boulder and Columbus State University. He also serves as guest faculty at Spain’s Pedro de Olavide University and Italy’s Parma Conservatory.
